Plumbing Questions, Answered Plainly
1000+ five-star reviews
Questions about plumbing work usually fall into a handful of honest groups: what it costs, how fast help arrives, who is turning up, and what the houses around here do that other suburbs' houses do not. This page answers the ones locals actually ask.
If your question is not covered here, the Crows Nest home page sets out the full service range, or you can simply ring and talk it through with a licensed plumber.

Pricing and quotes
How much will my plumbing job cost?
Every job is assessed and quoted as a fixed written price before any work begins, so the number you approve is the number on the invoice, with no hourly meter running. Weekend work, after-hours attendance and public holiday callouts are priced the same way, because overtime rates simply do not exist here.
Do you charge a call out fee?
No. Getting a licensed plumber to your door to assess the job costs nothing, and you only ever pay for work you have approved in writing. If the quote does not suit, you owe nothing and the assessment has still told you what you are dealing with.
How do payment options work?
Card, cash and payment plans are all accepted, so a larger job does not have to wait on payday, and the payment conversation happens once, upfront, as part of the written quote. A hot water replacement or a sewer renewal never arrives as a surprise at the end.

Bookings, emergencies and who turns up
How fast can you get here in an emergency?
A real person answers the phone day and night, and the van dispatched to you is usually coming from a nearby job, so attendance is as quick as local conditions genuinely allow. While you wait, shutting the water meter or isolating the affected fixture limits the damage. The emergency plumbing page walks through make-safe steps for the most common midnight problems.
What licences and insurance do your plumbers carry?
Every plumber works under licence #275278C with full insurance behind each job, and the compliance certificates protecting your paperwork trail arrive with the invoice. That matters most on gas work, backflow testing and hot water installations, where certification is not optional.
Is the work covered by a warranty?
Yes. Workmanship is guaranteed for life under our Lifetime Labour Warranty, so if something we have done is not right, we come back and sort it at no cost. Parts carry their own manufacturer warranties alongside ours, and both are explained before you approve the quote.

Services and coverage
What services do you cover?
The full trade: emergency callouts, general plumbing, drainage from CCTV inspections to pipe relining, and hot water work across gas, electric and instant systems, all under the same fixed-price process. Repairs, renovations, maintenance and new installations all sit within that.
Can you work on older terrace homes?
Constantly. Pre-war terraces around here run clay sewer lines, corroding galvanised supply pipes and legacy gas fittings, and all three are familiar territory for our crews. Renovation plumbing on a Federation or Victorian semi usually means upgrading what sits behind the double brick before the new fixtures connect. That sequencing is planned into the quote rather than discovered mid-job.
Why do my drains keep blocking when the restaurants nearby get cleaned?
Grease from the Willoughby Road dining strip and roots from mature street trees both burden the same aged earthenware lines, so a run can need relining rather than another clearing. If a drain blocks every few months, a camera inspection shows whether the pipe itself is the problem. Our drainage team handles the full sequence from diagnosis to repair.
Can you help apartment owners and strata committees?
Yes. Walk-up flats and newer towers make up much of the local housing, and both bring shared lines, flexi hoses under sinks and hot water plant serving many dwellings. Filmed condition reports and documented test results give owners corporations evidence they can act on, and residents get the same fixed-price treatment as a house call.

The local area
Which areas beyond Crows Nest do you service?
We cover the surrounding lower North Shore, including St Leonards, Wollstonecraft, Cammeray, Naremburn and North Sydney, each with its own dedicated page on this site. The crews working your street are genuinely local, which is why the van often arrives from a job two blocks away.
Does the new Metro station change anything for plumbing?
Indirectly, plenty. Renovation activity around the village has accelerated since the station opened, and every refit of an older flat or terrace drags dated pipework and legacy gas lines into scope. Booking the plumbing assessment early in a renovation saves ripping open finished walls a second time.
How do I get a quote started?
Call (02) 9072 0528 and describe what is happening, and a licensed plumber, not an answering machine, will tell you what it likely means and when we can realistically attend. The fixed written price follows the inspection, and no work begins until you approve it. Prefer to write first? The contact page takes your details for a callback, and the about page explains who we are before you commit.
